Lock.app and Shutdown.app for broken Sleep/Power Button on iPhone

XianLi (Bending Administrator) over on Hackint0sh has created two useful little apps for all the iPhone owners with broken sleep/power buttons. They are called Lock.app and Shutdown.app. You can now put your phone in sleep mode or turn it off without using the sleep/power button. I wish this app was around a while ago when I had a friend that dropped his iPhone and his power button stopped working. We ended up parting out his iPhone and he has since replaced it, but this would have sorted him out, at least for a little while.

XianLi would like to thanks Dave Henriksen for the shutdown iPhone’s binary used in this app. XianLi is also working on a Software solution for the broken Silent Ringer Switch. Both Lock.app and Shutdown.app are available on iClarified repository > http://installer.iclarified.com.

Sipgate VOIP App for iPhone - 111 Free minutes

I installed and tried out SipGate VOIP client for iPhone this morning. One good thing about this service is that it gives you 111 free minutes so you can test drive the service before you buy minutes. It’s comes with free 3rd party VOIP support and of course the software is also free.

It’s definitely worth it if you make allot of overseas calls or travel allot and need a break from the bills. It’s works very well over Wifi and only takes a few minutes to register with the website to get a SipGate ID number to start using the service.

“We expect most iPhone owners to roam in various rather complex Wi-fi environments i.e. on campus or at coffee shops. Most likely that will expose you to difficult network environments which traditional VoIP services tend to have difficulties with. sipgate provides you with sophisticated technology to overcome those issues. In order to do so, we need to know, what network environment your iPhone happens to be in and consequently have your iPhone connect to sipgate directly. We recommend you store your VoIP account at sipgate.com. In any case are you welcome to configure any SIP service directly on the iPhone.”

Apple Online Store
Features:

  • free VoIP software for your iPhone
  • free 111 minutes included
  • free support for 3rd party VoIP services
  • absolutely no charges for anything

Why Use Sipgate?

  • Sipgate allows you to save mobile minutes, whenever Wi-Fi is available
  • bypass roaming charges
  • place calls at virtually no cost when traveling abroad

How can I dial another sipgate user from my iPhone?

  • When signing up, we have provided you with a sipgate number. You can dial any sipgate number or receive calls at your own sipgate number free of charge.

If you would like to test out Sipgate for iPhone head over to their website to register and get a Sipgate number, then add the following repo to your Installer sources: http://iphone.sipgate.com. Then simply install the app and have fun burning through those free minutes.

iSlsk is a P2P file sharing client for Soulseek developed for the iPhone/iPod Touch that works over Wifi and EDGE. It is similar to other P2P network apps like eMule, LimeWire, and BitTorrent (and Napster back in the day). Here is a kinda shady video of it working:

Kate for the iPhone - Extended and Added iPhone App features

Kate for the iPhone is an app that allot of you may be familiar with but not know it by that name. Kate is the new name for Caterpillar form Rip-Dev.

Rip Dev released 1.3 yesterday and along with it came some new features, improvements on old features and of course a new name.

Firstly, Kate (Caterpillar) is a commercial application (you gotta pay for this bad boy), some may not think the app is worth it, so the developer has conveniently allows users to get a three day trial. Kate adds some really neat functions and improvements, but at the same time, as a past Caterpillar user, I can attest that prior versions were buggy, and clashed dangerously with other apps. Speedometer for your iPhone - Beta

I have been watching this cool little app is development for some time over on Hackint0sh, and its now seeming to be making some great progress. It’s a neat little app called SpeedometerEN that measures 0-60mph and your speed while traveling in your car (or anything once you can keep it level i guess). Its a GTech Pro in your iPhone for those of you who are into cars. This is pretty cool, here are some instructions on installing, screen shots too.

This is only a test-version, I need to know the results in real life, not only theoretical. It works only in horizontal direction.
Please post your results. If it works, I will make it much better.
Big thanks to JuiCe
