Three new iPhones Models coming Soon and a iPod Nano with Camera

It is now rumored that Apple will introduce a third-generation iPhones in six configurations: two capacities each for three different models that will sport wireless hardware to match the speeds of wireless networks across the world.

The rumor suggest that countries with 3G speeds capable of 7.2Mbps downloads will get the high end model and other countries will receive a version similar to the current iPhone 3G capable of 3.6Mbps 3G downloads.

China for example could get its own version of the iPhone with limited in functionality and relying on the Gov’t backed TD-SCDMA standard. All three new models will look nearly identical to the current iPhone but sport a “less scratchable matte plastic body” according to iLounge and AppleInsider.

The report may offer clarity to references to two new iPhone models in betas of Apple’s iPhone Software 3.0 — iPhone 2,1 and iPhone 3,1 — as well as a third conspicuous reference to “ChinaBrick.”
Also according to the latest rumors, Apple will introduce a new version of its iPod nano with a wider screen and built-in camera later this year after first introducing three new iPhone models distinguished by their network hardware, according to a new report.

iLounge is corroborating a recent rumor that has the third-generation iPod nano gaining a point-and-shoot digital camera similar to the one found on the iPhone. Also a smaller click-wheel, making room for larger screen real estate.

Meanwhile a camera placed on the lower left-hand side of the nano’s rear will reportedly pave the way for the iPod to dual as digital camera when it’s held in landscape mode and gripped by its corners.

First Cortex-A9 Multi-Core Mobile Platform Rumored for new iPhone Demonstrated

ST-Ericsson and ARM announced that they will be demonstrating the world’s first Symmetric Multi Processing (SMP)-enabled mobile platform at a private event at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

The technological breakthrough is the first of its kind and is based on the ARM(R) Cortex(TM)-A9 multicore processor, which represents a significant leap from previous generations of baseband/application processor architectures by providing unprecedented levels of performance and power efficiency.

An ST-Ericsson representative explains that having multiple processor cores will improve real-time performance on mobile devices for a better user experience. The demonstration model will, of course, be running the Symbian OS.

The same Cortex-A9 multicore processor has been postulated as the CPU behind the rumors of Apple’s next generation iPhone. ZDNet reported that the next generation iPhone could support up to quad-core processors. There has been some debate about how quickly ARM would be able to ramp up these processors as the original timeline for the Cortex-A9 had targeted late 2009/early 2010.

Apple appears to have invested heavily in bringing ARM design and development in-house with their acquisition of P.A. Semi and speculation that they are an architectural licensee of ARM’s processors.

More 2.0 iPhone Firmware features revealed

Seems like every week a new feature of the firmware 2.0 is unveiled, last week was the rumors of the new SGold chip and the probability of improved camera mega pixel goodness and new contact search features.

This weeks new ability (thanks to Engadget) is to save images form websites to the iPhone. This means that there must be some way to attach these saved images to emails, so maybe some kind of simple file browser will be included (wishful thinking) or probably just a simple attachment icon that will allow you to attach an image or two if we are lucky.

The other new feature isn’t so new, but is the ability to take a screen shot of the iPhones screen by holding power and touching the home button, which will make the screen flash white to let you know you took the snap, cool, and almost exactly like the app from RipDev that allows you to do the same by holding home and toggling the mute button.

These and other new features being found in 2.0 beta updates shows that apple is listening to the voice of the people, and what the people want is the functionality found in most third [arty apps. Hopefully we will see some more cool functionality added with the next beta update in May.

More Rumors - 3G iPhone to also have GPS

You gotta love these ‘friend of a friend’ stories where someone says that his fathers friends wife told them that the iPhone will have sharks with laser beams on it. But this time the ‘friend of a friend’ story is that new upcoming 3G the iPhone will have GPS. Funny enough this story comes from a very reputable source, Silicone Alley Insider.(not that the ‘anonymous tip’ is fact), but they also recently reported another ‘friend of a friend’ told them the iPhone will have a 3MP camera, video recording, ability to upload vids to YouTube and 32GB of storage - whew - sweeet :)
This comes quick on the heels on the Mossberg retracting the statement that the 3G iPhone will be released in June. I think it just adds to the rumor mill, but is a clear sign of what the people want besides what has already been released in the beta firmwares.

No iPhones in Stock. - Anywhere?

My Friend Sashi called this morning to say that he got his 16GB iPhone and wants some help unlocking and setting it up, but he said that it wasn’t easy getting it. He said he went to an Apple Store in the Falls Miami and there were no 8GB or 16GB iPhones in stock, and in fact they called all the local stores and none had in stock, hmmmm. So being the smart persistent person he is, he got them to order it online for him and was able to collect it before he left the States, but that took 5 days, luckily he ordered it on his first day there and was able to get it in time.

So today i started looking around, and I didn’t need to look far as I saw threads on Hackint0sh, various blogs, and even the New York Times reporting the same thing. So, what’s Apple up to now? Are they getting ready for the release of a new version of the iPhone? The much rumored and anticipated 3G iPhone? Or, are they getting ready for War? Is a hardware update being made to the iPhone in production now to block unlockers? OR is it just a memory/capacity upgrade to 32GB, and therefore hopefully the 8GB and 16GB iPhones price would drop too, maybe even a phasing out of the 8GB iPhone like the 4GB…

I am mixed on this one, I think Apple may be trying to control its inventory and give AT&T some time to sell iPhones with contracts, as opposed to Apple Stores selling batches of 5 without contracts to unlockers. AT&T is not out of iPhones and is in fact selling refurbished 8GB’s for $250 USD online occasionally, but it is hard to get an iPhone from AT&T without a contract recently.

Or is Apple making a hardware/bootlader change to circumvent the current bootlader and baseband hacks and in doing so neutralize iPlus, iLiberty+ and the much anticipated PWNED unlocking utilities? Does Apple or can Apple afford to loose the sales of unlocked iPhones? It may make sense to test new hardware/bootloaders on 1.x iPhones before rolling out 2.0 and 3G. So that would suggest that the next couple months Apple wants to test its new anti-unlocking hardware/software solution. That would mean current iPhones are being upgraded with the new bootloader or hardware. Could this be possible or even feasible?

It may be allot of different things, but one thing is for certain there are allot of conspiracy theories going around. Lets just hope that Apple is simply making a memory upgrade to 32GB’s and maybe a price drop of existing models.

iPhone Firmware 2.0 Jailbreaked and Activated?

Seems like the Dev Team are up to their old games of cat and mouse again. Rumor has it that they have gotten a hold of the new 1.2 iPhone Firmware being delivered to Developers (that will be released to us as iPhone Firmware 2.0 in June) and have managed to install jailbreak and activate it on an iPhone.

Details are very hush hush as you can imagine on the method used and the jailbreak details, but we do know its the work of the original Dev Team, the same folks bringing us PWNED. Maybe a cutom 2.0 Firmware is on the verge of reality. The new App Store and the old Installer.app along with Cydia and all our favorite apps all on your unlocked 2.0 iPhone?

Sounds too good to be true, but looks to be possible if what I am hearing is right.

iPhone Software Developers Kit Delayed?

I am not going to label this as a Rumor, even though I want to, just for the selfish desire for the SDK to be released as soon as possible. Businessweek’s Blog is reporting that its snoops have found out that due to last minute tweaks and decisions about what exactly to reveal with the SDK.

I am sure allot of egotistical hackers out there are thinking that Apple is trying to circumvent any possible jailbreak/activates and unlocks on its new upcoming iPhone SDK Firmware.
Even though I know there are a group of developers (ex hackers) at Apple sitting a dark room trying to block any attempt at future iphone hacks, Apple’s delay wouldn’t be because of us.

The logistics alone of such a launch, both on Apples internal network and buseinss channels, to its partners, developers, third party developers, lawyers and copyright departments and tying up all loose ends. Apple really cant afford for this firmware to have problems, opening up the phone to 3rd party apps can have allot of side effects on the property of Apple & At&T customers.

Thousands of crashed iPhones (or millions) could result in HUGE financial losses for both apple and AT&T if something goes wrong with any of the apps launched with the SDK and/or new firmware.

It also raises the question, will a delay in the SDK delay a new firmware? Is there even a new firmware? Will Apple release a new firmware to lock unlockers out and lay down the firmware foundation for the SDK. My thoughts are that Apple will not release a new firmware without the SDK, its just too much development needed to create the two consecutively, and one/both would already be hot on the heels of January’s 1.1.3.

I think Steve is going to announce some new locations where the iPhone will be sold (Australia, Canada and maybe China), preview the SDK interface and some apps and partners, and may, just maybe, make a couple of the apps available on iTunes (for a fee and probably for free when the SDK is officially announced and a new firmware is released)

We all know that Apple launches new stuff and usually makes announcements on Tuesdays, and everyone has had their eye on Feb 26th as the launch date, will this delay be just another rumor, or Apple giving itself some room to debug the SDK and launch apps. All I got to say is that Steve better not go back on what he said.

JerrySim for iPhone - 4.6BL - 3.6BL downgrader

Status

The recent leak of an internal dev document about jerry has now given the upper hand to Chinese simcard resellers, with whom the leaker has been colluding (for his usual reason of seeking fame and glory).

The combined iPhone Dev and Elite Teams would like to thank our booted, leaking ex-member for exposing us – as a team working for you with reasonable plannings. (Read the leaked document to see for yourself.)

Since this whole game is not about blogs, drama, personal glory, money and more drama, but about hacking that fracking device and sharing the results in a responsible way, be assured release will be accomplished as planned (with possible delays to prevent simcard profiteering, you know who to blame for that)

It’s been rumored for a while that the dev team had a way to downgrade the bootloader of 1.1.2 & 1.1.3 iphones for a while. I was hinted that by a friend the other night and sworn to secrecy. I kept my mouth shut, and just as he eluded to how it was being done, is how its being done.

Something called a JerrySim

Unfortunatly the news was not announced by the iPhone Dev Team Portal (as they are known) the way they wanted it to be announced, but instead leaked by Zibri again… as he used it to lash out at the dev members because of the ongoing rivalry etc..

here is the official comments:

Announcements

Thanks to Zibri who blew the 4.6 downgrade for everyone by posting the code early. Unfortunately, he was in no way involved in creating it and has no idea how it works. Since he’s taken it upon himself to post the code, we as a team have decided that we are going to leave it upto him to finish the exploit and show everyone just how clever he is. We were trying to work out some of the logistical details to make sure that people weren’t going to try to profit from this exploit at the expense of the community at large, which is one of the primary reasons we had been holding back the release. We were in no way intending to make money from this or charge for the distribution, quite the opposite. But now, it’s all for naught. So, when Apple patches the exploit and you all remain with locked OTB phones, you know who to thank, your friend Zibri.

This is not good news for anyone right now.
