I was reading a very interesting article over at AppleInsider

RBC Capital Markets’ Mike Abramsky has stated very little following his meeting with Apple iPhone marketer Greg Joswiak, chief financial officer Peter Oppenheimer, and Mac desktop manager Tom Boger, but what he has said hints strongly to something that we all wish for, and unlocked global iPhone. Is this a sneak peak at the new 2nd Gen iPhone? Nope - Well TUAW and Engadget are reporting that they heard form a friend of a friend that this dude knows someone that said that this could be very similar what the 2nd Gen iPhone to be announced in June may look like.

Rumors are already buzzing that the 2nd Gen iPhone is already in production and some lucky bastards have got their grubby hands all over that lovely glossy black casing. It’s also mentioned that this bad boy has built in 3G and real time GPS positioning. Read more…

You gotta love these ‘friend of a friend’ stories where someone says that his fathers friends wife told them that the iPhone will have sharks with laser beams on it. But this time the ‘friend of a friend’ story is that new upcoming 3G the iPhone will have GPS. Funny enough this story comes from a very reputable source, Silicone Alley Insider.(not that the ‘anonymous tip’ is fact), but they also recently reported another ‘friend of a friend’ told them the iPhone will have a 3MP camera, video recording, ability to upload vids to YouTube and 32GB of storage - whew - sweeet
This comes quick on the heels on the Mossberg retracting the statement that the 3G iPhone will be released in June. I think it just adds to the rumor mill, but is a clear sign of what the people want besides what has already been released in the beta firmwares.

UPDATE: ok so Mossberg is retracting his statement, probably under pressure form Apple for spilling the beans, we’ll have to sit and watch this one, I am changing the title to Rumor for now
At about 6:53 in you will hear Mossberg speaking about the iPhone and saying that a 3G model will be available soon.

It is unknown as to where Mossberg is getting his information from; however, he is reportedly close to Apple and Steve Jobs and is well respected in the tech community.

This has been a back and forth issue for a while, first its coming, then its not, then Apple announces that its not, now The Wall Street Journal Online and AppleInsider.com and Gizmodo are reporting that Flash is coming to the iPhone.

An impending software update to Apple’s iPhone will include a plug-in for the handset’s Safari web browser that will finally let users view Adobe Flash media files, the Wall Street Journal’s Walt Mossberg reports. - AppleInsider.com

“At launch, the iPhone version of the Safari browser is missing some plug-ins needed for playing common types of Web videos. The most important of these is the plug-in for Adobe’s Flash technology,” Mossberg wrote. “Apple says it plans to add that plug-in through an early software update, which I am guessing will occur within the next couple of months.”

So does this mean that flash support will be coming soon? Hopefully yes, and it will come as part of an official Apple iPhone Firmware Update and NOT an Adobe SDK developed plugin/app.

Gizmodo is reporting that they received an invitation to attend an Apple Event on the 6th of March at the Cupertino campus. “The mail includes a reference to “some exciting new enterprise features” as well”.

Great news, but raises some questions, will there be another firmware update for the iPhone to follow? Apple is surely busy.

The iTunes store went down, then it came back up this morning. Nothing to see here except for a new MacBook Pro (with multi-touch pad) and 2.4ghz MacBook - Both very nice and desirable. I will continue to monitor Apple Tuesday and any news i can dig up..

Every Tuesday for the year Apple has released something new, an update for Leopard, new 1.1.3 iPhone software, Updated Apple TV, new 16GB iPhone and 32GB iPod Touch, new prices on the iPod Shuffle, the great MacBook Air, you get the idea.

Well what we have all been waiting on this month is the iPhone SDK and IF a new iPhone firmware will be released hot on the tail of 1.1.3. I don’t think anyone reading this blog cares about anything else that could possibly be announce by Apple tomorrow. Rumors and whispers on the internet are that of the SDK delay, a few weeks or a few months?

I hope in any case they make some sort of announcement tomorrow, besides the MacBook and Apple Tv stuff, if not, all the hype and buzz would have been a big let down. At the same time, would Apple release the SDK without a major overhaul of iTunes and the iPhone firmware? Would they release a new firmware a month after 1.1.3 and only a week after iTunes 7.6.1? Apple doesn’t normally do things like that in the recent past, but who knows what may happen in the next 24 hours if anything at all..

If they don’t update anything, expect iPhones sales to rocket as black market dealers would take the next few weeks to stock up on 1.1.3 and the few 1.1.2 iPhones in stores. On the other had, if something is announced expect iPhone prices to rocket, as 113 and lower unlockable iPhones will again become worth almost double-triple what they cost in an Apple Store.
