Jailbird, a new windows jailbreaking application for the iPhone (2G & 3G) and iPod touch, is currently under development. Unfortunately Jailbird will not unlock your iPhone (2G) like PWNAGE Tool from the Dev Team (by installing BootNeuter) but if your 2G iPhone is already unlocked, you can use this on your windows PC to create custom 2.0-2.2 firmwares with the ability to adjust the partition size, then if you must install BootNeuter via Cydia.

Anyhooo - This will be great for quick restores back to a custom firmware (quicker than restoring then using quickpwn). Jailbird will as stated jailbreak the iPhone 3G and iPod Touch which will allow you to install non AppStore software from Installer and Cydia. There is currently no iPod Touch 2G jailbreak, and no redsn0wisn’t the 2GTouch jailbreak either. but it looks like I was wrong and redsn0w IS the iPod 2G Touch jailbreak, stay tuned for more info.
Anyway back on point, lets hope Jailbird is released soon and works well and makes life a little easier for our friends out there with PC’s.
Cmw, creator of WinPwn (great software huh?) updated his site

The Dev Team have since announced that they will be releasing an Update to PWNAGE Tool 2.0.3 sometime soon that will be delivered via the a sparkle update in PWNAGE.
We’ve had some issues with iPod touch devices and the latest version of PwnageTool for the Mac, in certain conditions incorrect permissions will be used and the keychain doesn’t save passwords. So hold on and wait for the next release, we’ll push out the updated version via Sparkle as soon as it is tested (it is being tested right now). We have also encountered some issues with the Windows Beta of QuickPwn, and we have a release candidate here that should fix the issues seen with 64-bit Windows versions and should be able to be used with all versions of Windows, but as with all beta software other bugs may be present. 5 hours ago
There were also some users who reported problems with QuickPWN and the Dev Team have released an updated version called QuickPWN RC2 that should fix these problems.
PwnageTool 2.0.3 is now available either as a update in PWNAGE (courtesy Sparkle) on your Mac or you can download it directly from here. (Dev Team Server Link)
This new version of PwnageTool supports iPhone/iPod firmware 2.0.2 5C1. It also comes with a new updated Installer Beta vb6 and Cydia of course. The application must be downloaded as a .tbz file from the Dev Team Servers (above) and must NOT be decompressed using “the unarchiver”, use OS X’s built in ‘Archive Utility’ to decompress the file.
PWNAGE Tool 2.03 will create a custom iPhone/Touch firmware that you can choose to Jailbreak and Activate your device, install Cydia and/or Installer.app and run BootNeuter to unlock your First Gen iPhone on firmware 2.0.2 build 5C1. Unfortunately it will NOT unlock your/my iPhone 3G baseband, but it will jailbreak it and allow you to run great apps like Cycorder and Winterboard.

Update: I am having problems with passwords being saved for email, wifi and other things. I will try to chenge permissions of var/keychain to 0777 and see if that helps.
WinPwn 2.0.0.4 has been released for PC users so they can now upgrade to 2.0.1 firmware on their iPhones and iPhone 3G. This will currently only jailbreak and optionally activate iPhone 3G, but it will fully unlock, jailbreak and activate first gen iPhones:

Long ago there used to be the Dev Team Wiki, the iPhone Elite wiki and others that had allot of the information and methods used for hacking the iPhone. People could join the wiki’s and contribute. Later with the fallout between the different groups and certain members/users abusing their privileges/power of the wiki, it was closed to the public. This kept methods and exploits secret (so Apple could NOT fix them before we used em) and also kept the spammers and those looking to make money from the info away. - But what if the Dev Team dissolved or something along those lines? Where would that leave the community?
CMW has been working hard trying to get WinPWN ready even before the Dev Team released the xPwn open source tool kit. Well Windows users wait no more, it seems a few days with xPwn was all it took and CMW has managed to deliver. WinPwn 2.0 is here and works on iPhone’s, Ipod Touch and jailbreaks and activates the iPhone 3G (no unlock for 3G).
Support for WinXP and Vista 32/64bit. Note Windows 2003/2008 server (Yes SERVER) are not supported neither is Windows 95 or Windows 3.11
- You MUST do a full uninstall of winpwn before installing the new version
- Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes ( Currently 7.7)
- WinPwn uses 300MB of ram at peak due to the ipsw being extracted in memory
- You must first click browse and load an IPSW to use WinPwn (i thought this was clear)
- For 2.0 only the *5A347_Restore.ipsw files are valid. The 345 image will not work
- If you see Failed to load image catalog/payload catalog, this is fine and won’t cause problems
- If you already have service with AT&T do not activate or install Youtube Fix

The Dev Team updated PWNAGE Tool to version 2.0.1, which really just addresses bug fixes and enables the Auto Update feature within the software. Because of the Auto Update (AppCast URL fix), we recommend that everyone who downloaded PwnageTool 2.0 get this new version, if they want to stay up to date automatically.
