Ziphone 2.5 Released

Zibri has released ZiPhone 2.5 and predictively to everyone and not just his “early donators/sponsors“. But it may be a case of too little too late. With a few unlocking options available and working for 1.1.4, and the news and videos of the rumored custom firmware from the dev team to be released soon (I am hearing after the SDK release next week - which makes allot of sense incase they need/want to tweak it etc).

Is this Ziphone .25 going to be like previous ziphones, are thre going to be bug fixes, bootloaders being downgraded by mistake and wifi and other issues?? WE wil have to wait and see..

Zip over to ziphone.org if you have not had your fill of ziphone yet.

Custom iPhone Firmware by the Dev Team - PWNED!

Another great vid on YouTube by pumpkin showing an iphone being restored in iTunes, this time coming out completely unlocked after the restore to a custom 1.1.4 .ipsw!! no need to Jailbreak and Activated after the restore?! and its already unlocked?! IS this what we have all been waiting on?? is this the Holy Grail of iPhone firmware? Apple’s nightmare?? Custom Firmwares? - PWNED!!!!!

You will notice that after the restore, he is running 1.1.4, but has no jailbreak, Activation nor Unlock to do, there is already T-Mobile as the carrier and signal.. WOW

All of you that were saying that this was just a png replacement in the original video should start thinking about what you were saying..

here was the first Video

Zibri says other unlock & jailbreak releases are fake, to be careful

Words of caution and from Zibri saying that other versions of Unlocking Software that are based on his stew of applications called Ziphone is FAKE and warning users are to be careful using..

WARNING

I am still testing the new version. I am doing this for YOUR SAFETY. I have been informed of FAKE versions around. Trust me and this site. And..by the way… 1.1.4 is just a debug release. There is no real reason to rush and upgrade. Use DFU mode in ziphone to downgrade to 1.1.3 And enjoy your phone!

I don’t see anything fake about anything here… but anyway back on track, I have thrown caution to the wind and used the ‘other methods’ wth no problems. From another perspective, is he upset that he wasnt first? Upset that he may loose donations? Upset that his “code” was tampered with.

Well in any case give credit where credit is due, and the developers & releasers of Unlock1.1.4 on Installer and Independence have done so also.. so there use at your own risk ;) - Me, I throw caution to the wind :)

Cydia for the iPhone - New Aplpication/Package Installer

Now I have been hearing rumors for a while about something new, something big for the iPhone. It’s done well to be kept very secret, until now that it has officially been released and openly discussed on IRC.

It’s called Cydia by Jay Freeman, and it’s a new Open Source Package Installer and Handler for the iPhone. It is installer on RedBull, its got wings.

How to Install:

set auto lock to never
add http://apptapp.saurik.com/ to your installer sources (thanks for the update g.)
look for “Cydia Packager” - follow instructions

A quick jump over to the developers website has allot more details about this great new open source Installer for the iphone:

Using Cydia

In general, Cydia works very similarly to Installer, allowing people to quickly get up and running with the newer software. The main interface component is a bar of buttons along the bottom that provide access to the different main screens of the application.

  • Featured

Displayed when Cydia launches, this screen is a website that contains news related to usage of Cydia and Telesphoreo and information about currently interesting packages. Currently it only displays a single page, but soon it will be the browser of the application, providing access to package-specific websites and more detailed information.

  • Install

Here you may browse through the catalog of packages that you haven’t yet installed, either by section (APT’s name for Installer’s “category”) or in a single alphabetical list. (Currently, the section names that packages are in are still in flux, so please bear with the occasional odd name.)

  • Changes

Most of the time all you are interested in is “are there any updates to packages I have already installed” or “have any new packages been added recently that I might want to install”. This screen unifies these two usage patterns into a single dashboard: updates appear at the top, with all installable packages listed below in reverse chronological order.

This second usage is similar to Installer’s Recent Packages category, with two important changes. First, you may scroll back arbitrarily far through time, instead of only viewing the last few days. The goal of this modification is that only incredibly hard-core users are really going to check Installer every few days without fail and without ever taking a weekend or a vacation, which means that people may miss an exciting new feature.

Secondly, the time that a package is considered “added” is the time you first saw it, not the time it got added to the repository. This is important, as if you add a new repository all of the packages in it should be considered “new”. This definition also keeps packages from getting percolated back to the top of the list every time they are modified by the repository owner: only truly new packages should be considered “new”.

  • Uninstall (or Manage)

A more mundane usage of Cydia is to find out what you currently have installed, and either reconfigure or uninstall these packages. For these situations the “Uninstall” screen is called for, currently named such as Telesphoreo does not make use of APT’s configuration system and Cydia does not support it. If and when more options are available it will be renamed to “Manage” to better describe its modified focus.

  • Search

Finally, there are often cases where you have heard of a package but aren’t exactly sure what it is called. That, or you would like to find a package that provides some particular feature that would be mentioned in its description. This is where “Search” comes in: typing a string into this blank will search the complete package list by identifier, name, and description and display the resulting matches.

The final interface element is along the top of the screen: a refresh button that causes Cydia to synchronize the local APT package database with the current set of repositories, and an indication of when an update was last performed. It is my hope that this update process can be made more streamlined in the future, allowing it to be performed in the background as users are otherwise using Cydia. If this were to happen, this bar would likely be entirely removed.”

1.1.4 Unlock on Installer via iClarified - 3.9 Bootloader ONLY!!!

Late last night (~2am) I saw that iClarified has put up a 1.1.4 Unlock on their Installer repo (installer.iclarified.com) with a pretty serious warning not to try it as it was for testing only. Well I awoke this morning to a new Unlock on Installer for 1.1.4 simply called “Unlock (1.1.4)”. This will ONLY work on 3.9 Bootloader (click here if you are not sure which one you have)

Big thanks to: crackn, george z and george hotz, dev team, avi, dtube, enkrypt3d, parsi, jblp, and zibri!!!

Apple Tutorials How to Unlock a 1.1.4 iPhone (ZiPhone + Installer)
Instructions on how to unlock your 1.1.4, 3.9BL iPhone

This is a full unlock for 1.1.4 (modified GunLock), that means you end up with 04.04.05_G modem firmware (baseband) and OS firmware where with the Independence 1.4beta5 unlock you are left on 04.02.13_G modem firmware (1.1.2 baseband). I have not personally tested this one yet (as I have found something cooler), but I am sure it works with the great reception it is getting over on Hackint0sh.
