Jailbreaking 3.0 Beta 2 iPhone OS with the Unofficial QuickPWN 3.0 Beta 2

As reported before, the unofficial QuickPWN 3.0 Beta 2 is out! This version is not supported by the iPhone Dev Team so your probably shit outta luck with getting help from them.

There are lots of iPhone owners/users out there who want to update their iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPhone 3G, but also want to keep their jailbreak. Please note that 3G users will loose Yellowsn0w and a possible unlock in the future if they use this version of QuickPwn 3.0 Beta2. This is because you must update in iTunes to the 3.0 Beta 2, and for the iPhone 3G only this includes a unlockable baseband (modem firmware) update.

A Russian hacker called Vortex has released the unofficial jailbreak at iPhoneApps.ru. You can jailbreak the iPhone (2G) 3.0 Beta 2 - and it will remain unlocked, the iPhone 3G once updated to 3.0 beta 2 will be locked again and QuickPwn 3.0 Beta 2 will only jailbreak and install Cydia, and the iPod Touch 1st Gen beta 3.0 can be jailbreaked also. There is no Redsn0w for the iPod Touch 2G.

One thing though, it install’s RiPDev’s Icy program, I am very weary of RipDev’s stuff just because of the bad experices I have had with other products of theirs that caused me countless restores and some SSH and terminal file shuffling to get by iPhone back into a working condition.

The other catch is once you’ve jailbroken your device, you’ll only have Icy. Cydia is not working, neither SSH or Terminal and MobileSubstrate that rely on the Cydia BSD environment.

Please remember that this is beta, and the firmwares are beta, and that they will be buggy straight outta the box from Apple, far less after being jailbreaked. If you have any problems, best thing to do is restore to 2.2 (NOT 2.2.1 for 3g’s) and use QuickPwn.

so if i just ctrl+click restore in itunes to 3.0 beta 2 i can still use my t-mobile SIM card?

Hi, I see you mentioned Icy. I just installed icy on my phone. When I added my gmail account to my iphone, icy appeared to send a gmail message without my authorization and deleted the message from the 'sent' folder!! Is this a known behavior??
