iPhone Firmware 2.2 Disables Sim Proxy Hacks for 3G - No Hardware Unlock for 2.2
By Aaron Besson at 21 November, 2008, 10:40 am
Apple seems to be getting back into the cat and mouse games again with the latest iPhone update. Firmware 2.2, released only a few hours ago, seems to be disabling Sim Proxy/Hacks like TurboSim, VirginSim etc..
Since the 3G came out Sim Proxy/Hacks have had some limited success in allowing users to use their 3G iPhones on any carrier. I had reported in the past that these Sim Hacks work, albeit for a limited time, but some didn’t work at all.
This is jsut a warning to anyone using the iPhone 3G with one of these Sim HacksĀ NOT to update until there is a clear sign that the Sim Proxy/hack of your choice is working. The Dev Team, myself and others have always said that this was unreliable run around to a software unlock and it’s days were numbered. Now we’ll see if these hardware hacks days are over, once and for all.
