Second Thoughts on iPhone Installer 4.04b - Error File does not exist

It’s been almost 12 hours with Installer 4.04b and I have not installed a single app or game with it. I installed the community sources and it immediately threw up a message saying “Error File does not exist”. Remove the source and the error is gone. It turns out that the Community sources package is missing some files. Its also missing other repo sources besides the _BigBoss_ Repo that is missing all the icon files causing the error. The repo owners are aware and said that it will be resolved soon. If not, they will put out a package called “bigboss installer icons” that will resolve it.

But this all makes Installer pretty useless right now, unless you have some super secret repo sources :). I also find that it crashes/quits to the springboard frequently, and I have also gotten so accustomed to seeing the progress of the download and install via Cydia that I feel kinda lost having to go to tasks to view any progress (I am guessing this was designed for multiple downloads).

The following list is from iSpazio.net. They are old ones for 1.1.4 and lower, some of the bigger ones may have migrated to support 2.0 and Installer 4.04b new repo standards. You can go through and test which ones work and which ones don’t. Most will load the old 1.1.4 and older apps, but thye will not install and will throw an error - Good luck testing, i gave up.

Cydia on the other hand has been making leaps and strides as far as development of the User Interface and its core framework. Rip Dev needs to fix this or thry will simply be left behind. The race is on, and Cydia is two steps ahead.
