First thoughts on Installer 4.04b for 2.0 iPhone and iPod Touch

While I am waiting on my girlfriend to get home form work so we can go have a few drinks with our friends, I am sitting here pressing command+u in PWNAGE Tool to try to update to 2.0.2. I have kind of given up and have been playing around with Installer 4.04b in the meanwhile, and thought I would share my findings.

The new user interface for Installer is really nice. It’s easy to find your way around, and the icons are nice and big. My only real problem is that finding where to tap to enter a new url for a repo/source is kind of hard to figure out.

Obviously there are no real sources listed yet, Community Sources was added and after installing BigBoss Repo was listed, with pretty much the same apps as he has listed in Cydia. I added DanstaFace’s repo (i.danstaface.net) looking for vWallpaper, it’s not there, and last time I tried to install an app from them, it said it couldn’t. - read more

I think the biggest problem will be choosing which app portal to use? Installer or Cydia? They will soon both have the same apps/games/sources, and remembering which one you installed and app from may get confusing. I hope the devs have already thought of this and Installer or Cydia will recognize that you already haev an app isnalled by another app portal.

Hopefully the Dev Team will post a link to download the new PWNAGE Tool and Installer soon, till then enjoy some screen shots of Installer 4.0b4
