Customize your 2.0 iPhone with Customize 2.1.1

Customize is 2.0 Compatible!

One of the things that I am sure that everyone has been missing is the ability to customize and personalize their iPhone/Touch. Apple would love if your iPhone was unrecognizable in a pile of iPhones, but not any more. Customize is now compatible with Firmware 2.0! There are apparently still a couple of bugs (the About page and user Comments still not working), but all the good stuff is in there and working. You can manually  download it here and install it via OpenSSH and FTP, or you can install it via Cydia (I am not seeing it listed on Cydia as the developer says)

More than an application, an iPhone Modding Community

Customize 2.1.1 is becoming much more than just a great application to take control of your iphone (or ipod), it’s also a community of fellow modders! The customize forums are a great place to meet other iPhone/iPod modders as well as get answers to all of your questions. Also, we are always looking for ways to improve the website and application experience. Your suggestions are welcome!

I am having some trouble connecting to the Theme browser and downloading themes, but I am guessing that is because there are a couple million people all trying to get in at the same time, but everything else seems to be working. Make sure you backup your iPhone before doing this. Enjoy!

More screenshots coming soon

Update: I downloaded a couple themes but couldn’t get any to work, i think there is a permission problem or something.

Update #2: Seems as though allot of users are having the same problems, some say it works, but i am yet to see any screen shots of the app actually working on any phone yet.

Update #3: thanks Alex for sending this in!!

  1. Download the new Customize 2.1.1
(please check the Official website for updates until this is on Cydia)
  2. Unzip and then Log into your iPhone via OpenSSH and you FTP app using your iPhones IP and username: root, password: alpine
  3. Open the var/Stash/Applications/ directory
  4. drag it to your var/Stash/Applications/ directory on the iPhone
(replace the old Customize.app if needed)
  5. then open MobileTerminal on your iPhone and type

    chmod +s /Applications/Customize.app/Customize_

  6. Re-spring your iPhone and it should work..
Takes forever to download themes in my experience.

If you prefer to install this via Terminal you can check these previous instructions; Installation instructions for Customize 2.1

But please make sure you are using the newest version of Customize.
