Apple gets ready for second wave of iPhone 3G launch

Apple had a great iPhone 3G launch, selling over a million iPhone 3G’s in the first five days and over ten million twenty five Apps form the AppStore in a little over a week. There were some stumbling blocks along the way with iTunes Activation servers going down for some of the day on July 11th and MobileMe giving trouble for almost a week, but other than that, the iPhone 3G has been a huge success and is sold out nearly everywhere you go.
Apple also added 400 more apps to the already 500 that were available on launch date, bringing the total to over 900 applications and games that are currently available to iPhone/Touch users, and has opened the doors o developers again, so the numbers will be increasing as more apps are submitted and approved.
This week, Appleās Chief Operating Officer - Tim Cook, announced that the iPhone 3G will launch in 20 more countries on August 22nd, 2008. Have a listen if you have about an hour to kill.
Apple has already announced it’s plans to sell the iPhone in over 70 countries by the end of 2008. Along with the new countries that will sell the new iPhone 3G, will come a new 2.0.1 firmware that will support all of these new countries. So expect a new PWNAGE Tool to keep your iPhone up to date and usable.
Apple has also launched three new commercials for the iPhone 3G called Everyone, Unslow and Work Friendly. Hopefully Apple has learned from its previous iPhone 3G launch that it needs to beef up the bandwidth of it’s iTunes Activation servers so all these new iPhone 3G owners in the 22 new countries are not left with an unactivated iPhone 3G when they purchase.
