The arrival and announcement of the 3G iPhone is imminent as the June 9th WWDC 2008 comes close. (only a couple weeks away)

With that in mind, every news blog and fan boy have been monitoring every channel of information to sniff through the matrix for anything that could lead to the BIG story about the 3G iPhone.

Import Genius is reporting that Apple Inc and its shipping and logistics partners have imported 188 containers from Hon Hai Precision Corp. and Quanta Computer, China that have the contents listed as Electric Computers in the shipping manifests.

Now Apple is a computer manufacturer, so this isn’t that strange right? Well what is strange is that Apple has never used this “Electric Computers” description for a product before, meaning that it could be something new.

Everyone has been suggesting that this is the new 3G iPhone, and is a clear hint that it will be available for purchase when Steve Jobs makes the announcement at the WWDC on June 9th 2008. Some estimate that as many as 40,000 iPhone could fit in a 40′ container, so thats ~7,500,000 iPhones give or take a few

“They have never before reported this product on their customs declarations,” says Ryan Petersen of ImportGenius.com. “The fact that they are importing millions of units, combined with dwindling stocks of the first generation of iPhones, clearly supports the Citi analysts predictions.”

Two of Apple’s long-time manufacturing partners for desktop computers —Hon Hai Precision Corp. and Quanta Computer—have been rumored to be working on the newest generation of the popular cell phone.

On March 19 Quanta delivered 20 ocean containers of merchandise, described on the Bills of Lading as “electric computers,” to Apple, Inc. Neither Apple, Quanta, nor any other company has ever used this product description for any shipments to the U.S.

That’s allot of 3G iPhones. Why would Apple want a years supply of iPhones available now? Why two separate Manufacturers?

You know part of me believes this news, and I do think that this is the new shipment of 3G iPhones, hot right out of the oven, ready for us to consume. But then there is a small part of me that wishes that part of this shipment is the new rumored touch tablet. It would make allot of sense to have this great new product (if it actually even exists) available when it is announced alongside the new 3G iPhone.

Also thats allot of stock to have sitting around if people don’t buy as quick as Apple predicts. Some early adopters of the 1st Gen iPhone may still be trying to sell off their ‘old’ iPhones before buying or to fund their new 3G iPhone. Could this be a sign that the iPhone may be unlocked in the US and the large order is the fill the demand for new customers? Who knows, but if your reading this your are probably one of those that are waiting for one of those new 3G iPhones - I’ll keep my fingers crossed too.
