iSlsk is a P2P file sharing client for Soulseek developed for the iPhone/iPod Touch that works over Wifi and EDGE. It is similar to other P2P network apps like eMule, LimeWire, and BitTorrent (and Napster back in the day). Here is a kinda shady video of it working:

Features:

  • Search for files easily on the Soulseek network
  • Transfers displays your download and upload cue
  • Downloads displays your downloads obviously :)
  • Import will allow you to import you files downloaded to youe iPod Music Library on your iPhone
  • Download files in teh background while using other apps.

You can find iSlsk on Installer. To get the files browse to /var/mobile/Media/Download, more info on installing and probelms can be found i the original thread on ModMyiFone

Some users a experiencing problems, (i got the error on my iPhone, but not on my Touch)

“Your Firewire GUID couldn’t be recognized and therefore music importing will not be available”
To solve this issue, you will need to do some hacking. Log in to your iPhone or iPod touch with SSH and do the following:

1) check if you have “ioreg” binary in /usr/bin/ directory
2) If not download it from here(?) and upload it to /usr/bin
3) chmod 755 /usr/bin/ioreg
4) run chown mobile:mobile /Applications/iSlsk.app/
5) run chown mobile:mobile /Applications/iSlsk.app/*
6) Download libncurses.5.dylib from here and upload only libncurses.5.dylib to /usr/lib
7) run chmod 777 /usr/lib/lib*
