iPhone coming to Latin America later this year

By Aaron Besson at 9 May, 2008, 1:10 am

According to TUAW and some other sites that will remain in the naughty corner, Reuters reported that Latin American mobile giant America Movil is lined up to be the distributor of the iPhone in Latin America. We are not certain yet if this mean it will be supported on a 3G or 2G network, but this comes soon after announcements to sell the iPhone in 10 new European countries.

America Movil are in 16 Latin American countries as well as the Caribbean (but not Trinidad & Tobago - oh f%&k) and the United States. As of March 2008, America Movil held more than 159 million mobile subscribers.

I really hope that one of our local carrier (Bmobile or Digicel) either partner with a supporting carrier or step up and represent the Caribbean (T&T included of course)
