Sneak Peak at the Freeverse Games coming soon for the iPhone

Freeverse is well known for developing Apps and lots of fun arcade style games for Mac and Pc and are making the obvious jump to the iPhone, which is already gearing up to be a great mobile gaming console. It already has a more powerful processor than some hand held gaming consoles and has probably the best screen out there, combine that with a multi touch screen, a built in accelerometer, internet and network access, you got yourself a hand full of fun. Upcoming games will include Flick Sports™ (Golf, Bowling, Soccer, and Baseball to start) and Wingnuts MotoRacer where you get to race a motorcycle using the accelerometer.

Now, Apple is opening up the iPhone and iPod Touch to developers and we are beyond excited!
Everyone at Freeverse is in love with their iPhones, and we’ve got some terrific ideas for new games and applications. Some ideas we’re keeping under wraps for a while, but a few we really just couldn’t wait to share
…
Flick Sports™
Using the iPhone’s unique flick/pinch feature, we’re working on Golf, Bowling, Soccer, and Baseball (to start). Fun, colorful and quick, these will be ideal games for a modern mobile platform.
Wingnuts MotoRacer
Ah, the wind in your hair, the bugs in your teeth and the open road stretching out in front of you! Using the iPhone’s cool accelerometer, (you know, that doohickey that knows when your iPhone is sideways or not), you can steer your motorcycle to victory in this wild racing game. Awesome characters and a touch of humor, its a Freeverse game after all, will add to the fun.
Sounds like some really cool gaming coming our way. It will be exciting to see developers and designers taking advantage of the amazing hardware of the iPhone. It is going to take mobile gaming to a new level and we are already seeing game developers excited and utilizing the accelerometer and touch interface on the iPhone.
These are great examples of games for the iPhone, they are fun, can be interactive on a Wifi network, and they don’t rely too heavily on tapping or pressing the screen too much/hard and thus killing the touch screen. Hopefully Epic has a copy of the SDK and will port Gears of War 2 to the iPhone. OK maybe not
