What’s Up with 1.1.2

It’s hard to keep everyone updated as to whats going on with 1.1.2 unlocking, I get at least 20 calls a day with people asking about unlock news, stealthsims, magicsims, what to buy?, what have they bought?, where they can get? and what to do? I’ll try to break it down as easily as possible.

Factory Firmware / Out the Box Firmware
Identifying your phone’s firmware that it came with from the factory

Every iphone has a unique serial number, and that serial number tells us what week it was manufactured, and this tells us what factory firmware the phone has. The Factory Firmware is the version firmware that was installed on your iphone from the factory.

The Serial number looks something like this: 7T847EWEHW8 and can be found on the back of your iphone or the box. the numbers we need to look at are the 4th and 5th digits, in my example above, the 4th and 5th digits are ‘47′and that tells us that the phone was manufactured in the 47th week of production. Phones that are week 45 and newer (45+) are 1.1.2 firmware that have the new bootloader 4.6 that cant be cracked yet.

Older phones with lower manufacture dates came with 1.0.0, 1.0.1, 1.0.2, 1.1.1 are week 44 and older, my phone came with 1.0.2 and is week 38.

You can also:
Check the Modem Firmware version of your iPhone by doing the following.

You can also:
Check the Modem Firmware version of your iPhone by doing the following.

1- Turn on your iPhone, you will get “Slide for Emergency Call”
2- Slide and you will get the phone keypad
3- type *3001#12345#* and press CALL
3- Press on VERSIONS

If you have the version 04.02.13_G you are sure to have the bootloader version 4.6

If you have a week 44 or older, you are in luck, I or many other people can help you or someone you know unlock their iphone. If its week 45+, keep reading and hold onto your wallet, it gets expensive if you are not willing to wait… and who knows how long that wait may or may not be

If you phone was updated to 1.1.2 from a previous firmware, your solution is easy, but if you got your phone brand new with 1.1.2 please read on.

Solutions for 1.1.2
What are you going to do with this thing?

** Currently there is NO solftware solution for any iphone bought from apple with Firmware 1.1.2 on it, there is NO AnySim (Free) or iPhoneSimFree (Commercial) solution **

ok With that out the way, here are the current solutions for 1.1.2 Factory firmware iphones

  1. HyperCard @ ~$89 USD including Shipping
  2. StealthSim @ $89 USD + $30-$55 USD Shipping (tested personally and working)
  3. TurboSim @ ~$150USD + Shipping

Once you get your hands on one of those Sim card adapters, you still need to jailbreak and activate your 1.1.2 phone, once you have done that you will need to add TSTT and Digicell Support (if you are not in Trinidad try iWorld), fix the low disk space error, and maybe even patch youtube to make it work. Its not quick and simple like unlocking 1.1.1, but no one said it would be easy or cheap.

jailbreak and activate your 1.1.2
Please see for Mac: http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/show…owngrade+1.1.2
For PC: http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/show…activate+1.1.2

Once your phone has been jailbreaked, activated, carrier supported, disk space fixed and you tube is working and you are on 1.1.2 again its time to use your new sim card solution and enjoy your phone. All of them require you to cut your sim card so I suggest getting a spare from your service provider. Prep your card according to how the manufacturer suggest and you should be making calls and sms’s in minutes of receiving your sim solution.

I was testing and posted on some other methods using MagicSims, but this did not work out and proved to be a small waste of money and got some peoples hope up, and unfortunately the only solution now is a pretty expensive one.

My tested method has been proven in theory not to work in a thread on hackint0sh

Conclusion:
- Changing just the ICC will not work - it won’t get you past the lock
- Changing IMSI will prevent you logging onto your network, it may get you past the lock (and may even get you a signal because the Ki check wasnt done yet) but it won’t let you make any calls, because that triggers a Ki check and kicks you off the network.
- These sim proxy’s or whatever you want to call them, switch the IMSI, but in a way that its sent to the network properly. This product cannot do that.

Summary

Buy either one of the above Sim Card solutions if you have the money, if not wait and pray that your Jesus phone will be unlocked.

It’s frustrating not being able to use my phone in Trinidad.

In NY I’m under Cingular’s network so once I jailbroke and activated I got to use ALL the features. In NY where there’s wireless everywhere you really get to appreciate the features of the iphone and the installer apps.

Down here though…unless your post paid and have a mobile internet account it sucks. I’m only here for a few months at a time, hence a prepaid SIM.

The phone works with my cingular SIM down here, but it’s on roaming of course…constantly switching between bmobile and digicell at a rate I’d rather not be charged.

I hope a true 1.1.2 unlock comes along before the new year.
