This one was painful, and should be a lesson to you out there installing your stealthsims, be careful, they can get stuck.
It was very busy Christmas Eve, helping about a dozen or so people get their phone unlocked, jailbreaked and preped for 1.1.2 and stealthsims, fixing bricked phones, generally doing my good deed for the holidays. After about 4 successful stealsim installs, I think I got a little too confident, and maybe started moving a bit too quickly as I listened to the latest Armin Podcast.
Some installs would take a few attempts to get the StealthSim and Sim Card to line up properly, sometimes wiht a nervous owner watching as I fumbled around with thier expensive iPhone, beleive me I am as nervous as they are doing this :).

It was my last two phones for the day to do before I went out to have a few with the boys, I installed the first stealthsim and simcard combo on the first in a flash, first try. The second i was moving just as swiftly, popped in the stealthsim and simcard, and noticed it was a little stiff going in, that’s normal, but this was a little more stiff than usual, and if you reaslise its stiff, take it out and try again, as this is a clear sign its going between the card tray and the slot’s tray-guide on the inside of the iphone.
I popped the tray back out and the simcard and tray came out, but not the stealthsim, i looked in and could barely see it, so i fumbled around for an hour, trying and trying, with all imaginable tools. (I even got so inventive as to create a small tweezers from a radio controlled Helicopter blade, a rubber band, a matchstick and some patience) but nothing would give me the grip or the precision to get in that tiny sim card slot.
My only hope was to take apart the phone and try to get it out, for two reasons, one, if I could get the phone apart, I could at least get back the stealthsim, and two, the sim tray couldn’t get back into the phone so the phone was inoperable anyway.

Well as we would say, “Nuff repect” - to apple, the hardware unlockers and anyone who has opened an iphone. It is surely a tough job, and takes time and patience. I called the owner to come collect his one working phone, and tell/show him the delima with the other, he agreed that i would simply replace the phone with a new 1.1.2 and i can keep this one and mes with it. He was a longtime friend and we both agreed under nostalgic friendship and christmas spirit.

Over the last couple days, imbetween the liquor, food, family and presents, I have managed to open the phone and find the sim card, it was finaly resting betweent he Logic board and the Screen assembly, it was eventally pushed down there by me trying to get it out with all sorts of various tools. And the worse part was that I was successfully able to get the phone apart, remove the stealthsim, put it all back together and it worked, but said NO SIM no matter what sim I put in there. It had a damaged Silver back Cover - but i was expecting that and can get one easily for $39-$59 USD online - but was pissed that i had to take it apart agian, to see what was wrong.

After inspection, I realised that I had bent one of the copper leads for the phones simcard reader on the logic board, trying to bend it back, immediately broke it. Shit. well looks like I now need a $150 USD logicboard or another iphone thats giving trouble to take it from, and I happen to know of a phone with no touch response that would be the perfect candidate for a donation.

So all in all it was a learning process, one that cost me a new iPhone, but in the end i will fix this one, and sell it or keep it for future experiments.
Hope you all had a Merry Christmas!

Sorry to hear that bro, but it’s all in the name of progress and helping out the fellow man…
At least others will know to be VERY careful when performing this operation!
Have a good one!

hey,
I had great trouble getting my sim and stealthsim in…but in the end I did manage it. Now when I’m indoors I get “No service” but if I am outside I am fine…so was wanting to re-align the sims…problem is I now can’t get the cards out! Any ideas? If not…should I attempt to open it?

to take the phone apart you need to first remove the simtray, so there itself lies your problem.
if its is tough to get in, its going to be twice as hard to get out.
i would get a thumbtack, file down the tip a bit so it’s not so sharp, you will have the thumb-part to apply the needed force, try to apply the force hard but slowly, you don’t want to break the leaver that pops the tray out, NOR have it fly out and the StealthSim get stuck on teh way out.
